This was a busy time for havaianas as they continually started producing new styles and ranges of flip flops. They also worked at creating prints on the Havaianas sole. One of the ranges that was developed at this time was the range of Baby Havaianas so you could get Havaianas from children of 1 year upwards. Baby havaianas are available in pink, white and blue havaianas.
In 1992 Havaianas starting using the strap line “Havaianas. Everyone wears them”. During this time in Brazil they were very widely used with those from ages 5-95 wearing them on the beaches and in the streets of Brazil. The brand was also becoming more of a product for the stylish people of Brazil with lots of famous people wearing them. They were becoming more and more popular but we still mainly sold in Brazil and not very well known in the rest of the world.
To try to increase their popularity they started creating a wider range of Havaianas during this time. In 1994 they created the top havaianas range. These Havaianas have the sole and the strap the same colour and they are still a popular style today.
Havaiana have always been quite forward thinking with their branding and this was shown in the 1970’s when they started looking at the branding and slogans from the company.
The strapline Havaianas came up with was “Havaianas. The real ones” this came about because even at this early stage other companies were trying to copy them so they wanted to put a stamp on their style.
Sole of Havaianas
1962 was when Havaianas started out in Brazil. The name came from the female word for a Hawaian. The sytle of shoes was inspired by Japanese flip flops which had fabric straps and rice straw shoe sandals. This inspired the sole of the Havaianas which has a rice like pattern at the bottom. This is one of the many distinctive features of Havaiana Flip Flops.
I just got my boyfriend a new pair of Top Havaianas and he loves them. I’m going to get them for him every birthday and Christmas now.
One amazing place you need to visit is Croatia. I went there for the first time last year and I’m dying to go back again. When going there I didn’t have much idea about what was there but I’d heard great things and they were true. The first thing that hit me about Croatia was the friendliness of the people. They did whatever they could to help and at the place we stayed the owne picked us up from the airport, had food and drink ready for us when we arrived and set up a football night for us.
The scenary and buildings are beautiful and particularly in Dubrovnik there are some great places to visit. If you are like me you will also be interested in the beaches. Though the beaches themselves aren’t sandy they are still brilliant mainly due to the sea. The sea is warm and some of the clearest sea I’ve ever seen. It’s worth taking a snorkel there as you can jump into the sea any where and see some amazing fish.
Finally it’s really cheap there so you can go out for great meals, stay in nice hotels and still not spend much money.
Just take a couple of nice outfits, a pair of Havaiana Flip Flops and you will have a great time.
I recently went to Thailand for 3 weeks and the most essential holiday item and that was black Havaianas. The reason these are the essential items is because if you are holidaying in Thailand you are bound to get your feet dirty. If you go to the city such as Bangkok and Chang Mai there are a lot of people, a lot of dirt on the road and people stepping on your feet. Alternatively if you go to the beach, Havaianas are great because they are so comfy you can wear them everyday. You can also get them wet so you can go in the sea with them.
Havaianas opened a flagship store in Sao Paulo in 2009 and it’s going from strength the strength. The building was designed by architecture guru Isay Weinfeld and it a beautiful building. The shop offers a massive range of Havaianas in a wide variety of styles colours and sizes, as well as some styles exclusive to the store.
Once you’ve got yourself a beautiful pair of Havaianas you can then customise them with different straps and add jewels and pins to them. Basically it’s a Havaianas heaven.
I’ve not had a chance to go yet but when I do I’m going to get a pair of white Havaianas so that they look great with pins.
